Customer Success Manager

Department: Sales
Location: San Mateo, CA

Backblaze, known as the simple, affordable, and reliable consumer backup solution, as well as the disruptive player in cloud object storage, is looking for a top-notch, self-starting Customer Success Manager to join our Sales team. 

This person will be joining the Backblaze team in our San Mateo, CA office.

What You'll Do:

As a Backblaze Customer Success Manager (CSM), you are in charge of building, maintaining, and growing strong relationships with the lifeblood of Backblaze: our customers. 

In this role, you will be responsible for supporting, upselling, and helping our sales team by targeting and growing strategic accounts within the organization. You will work closely with Sales, Support, and Product Management teams (to name a few) to share customer feedback and spot real-time trends. 

The important work youíll be doing day-to-day:

  • Conduct Business Reviews and technical calls with our Solutions Engineers.
  • Uncover upselling and cross-selling opportunities within our existing customer base.
  • Assist with non-technical issues such as billing, compliance & security, and invoicing questions, while pulling in the necessary resources.
  • Collaborate with Account Executives to ensure a smooth account handoff process from Sales to post-Sales, and grow those accounts to their full potential and beyond.
  • Understand and utilize customer product usage reports.
  • Prevent account churn and escalate at-risk accounts to Sales Management as needed.
  • Contribute to a growing Customer Success Management program. 

The Right Fit:

It is important that this person be well organized, detail-oriented, think ahead, and have a high EQ. 

  • 2+ years of CSM experience strongly preferred, or 3+ years of relevant sales experience.
  • Conversationalist with strong communication skills, empathy, and a passion for helping customers.
  • Exceptional organization and attention to detail.
  • Experience with Salesforce strongly preferred. Familiarity with additional tools such as Outreach (Sales Automation), Google App Suite (Gmail, Slides, Docs), and Gong (Sales Enablement) is a bonus.
  • Some understanding of workflow/storage challenges or a strong willingness to learn.
  • Ability to be helpful, knowledgeable, confident, and resilient, while maintaining integrity and credibility in the face of challenges and unexpected ambiguity
