Senior Solutions Architect

Backblaze is growing rapidly and seeking a Senior Solutions Architect to help us inspire and equip a global network of developers who will build the applications of today and the future.  Reporting to the Director of Evangelism this new position is waiting for you to jump in with both feet and build out the role using your experience, intelligence, and savviness, to organize and foster the Backblaze developer community.

While this position is based in San Mateo California (when we can safely return to the office), consideration will be given to exceptional candidates to live and work from anywhere in the United States.

Who you are

We are seeking a Senior Solution Architect to support our partnership efforts with strategic partnerships. Are you ready to work with the Backblaze sales teams to translate partnersí business needs into solutions that include Backblaze B2 Cloud Storage, and guide them to long-term value and success?

  • You are a sales-minded problem-solver, with strong technical skills and have a track record of moving groups to consensus within sales and partnership development processes.
  • You can communicate fluently with senior business executives, salespeople, product managers, and developers.
  • You love digging into code and systems as much as polishing sales presentations.
  • You are creative and skilled at coming up with technical solutions and workarounds to help tackle business problems.
  • You are familiar with enterprise data platforms and software tools including data, analytics, cloud, and CRM.
  • You have strong technical abilities, including writing scripts to collect, store, and analyze data, and developing demos that use APIs.
  • You are skilled at scoping, prioritizing and leading projects from start to finish.
  • You thrive with autonomy and enjoy taking ownership of your work and its results.
  • You are comfortable using diverse platforms, data stores, and analysis tools.
  • You have energy for learning new things, and for sharing what is learned with your colleagues to help them level up.
  • You love to stay on top of technology trends and put them into context of APIs and data.
  • You have a strong knowledge of cloud-based workflows (compute, CDN, edge compute).

What youíll do

  • Collaborate closely to support the partnership team and developers seeking to use Backblaze B2 Cloud Storage to devise client solutions.
  • Develop and present sales and technical materials to educate partners on the value of B2 Cloud Storage for business applications.
  • Work with development teams and decision-makers to prove the value of the B2 Cloud Storage for partnersí business goals.
  • Write technical documents that outline and define specifics of how to find value with B2 Cloud Storage and other tools.
  • Build tools and write code to enable customers and prospects to get started quickly with connecting to and consuming data from B2 Cloud Storage.
  • Design and diagram technical solutions and architectures that meet partnersí requirements, and drive architectural discussions to ensure partners successfully integrate.
  • Represent partnersí needs, opinions, ideas, and feedback to Backblazeís product and engineering teams.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS Degree
  • 5+ validated experience in a technical pre-sales, sales engineering, solution architect, or similar role for a software business.
  • Strong communication, presentation skills and ability to lead a conversation with diverse partners.
  • Experience using and building solutions with REST APIs.
  • Experience communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Coding proficiency in one or more languages. (Python, JavaScript, Java, Ruby, etc.) 
  • Preferred experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform and the supporting tooling associated with them.
