Role Description

Backblaze is looking for a marketing data expert who is able to leverage data from multiple sources to help us measure and understand the impact of our marketing activities. The ideal candidate will be strong technically and be able to drive insights and dig deeper into the ‘so what’ to further optimize our marketing strategy and channel performance (Paid User Acquisition, SEO, Email, Website Funnel Optimization, Brand Marketing). This role is highly collaborative and requires excellent communication skills, curiosity, and storytelling skills. This person will report directly to the Senior Director of Business Intelligence and will be responsible for leveraging data to develop actionable insights/presentations that influence budgets, channel, and campaign strategy.

  • Ensure your numbers are air-tight by performing individual quality control, checking with relevant data owners, and cross-referencing findings against secondary sources
  • Support and drive interpretation, socialization and adoption of marketing reporting
  • Extract insights on behavior of audience segments acquired through campaign data using analytics tools, data platforms, and internal databases
  • Surface analytical insights: proactively investigate root causes of aberrant data, and identify opportunities for optimization
  • Support design and implementation of experimentation necessary to improve channel efficiency, drive growth, and inform marketing investment decisions

The Right Fit

  • 3-5 years working in a marketing analytics role
  • Must be located in the SF Bay Area
  • Strong experimental design and statistical analysis skills
  • Experience with data visualization tools, e.g. Tableau, Periscope, Looker
  • Experience in extracting data from advertising channels such as google ads, facebook ads, Linkedin ads, etc.
  • Expertise in marketing concepts and measurement capabilities across online channels (particularly measurement and ROI of paid marketing activities)
  • Expertise with marketing automation and optimization platforms, ideally you are a Salesforce expert with strong knowledge of Hubspot (or other similar marketing automation platforms)
  • Strong communication skills and experience working in cross-functional teams
  • Advanced SQL capabilities - ability to write queries to extract data from our data warehouse
  • Experience working at a SaaS company a plus
  • Programming experience with R and/or Python a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in math, economics, statistics, engineering, finance, computer science, or other quantitative field

Backblaze Perks

  • 100% healthcare for family
  • Dental and vision plan
  • Competitive compensation and 401K
  • RSU grants for full-time employees
  • Flexible vacation policy
  • Maternity & paternity leave
