But while there is a lot to celebrate in our past, there is almost as much opportunity ahead of us. BackBlaze has over 2,000 PB of storage and is growing rapidly. We are looking for an individual to help us build a scalable architecture that will leverage platform orchestration and allow us to scale for the next five years.  This individual will be able to help design and build a platform to handle our growth.

This position is in San Mateo, California but will also consider remote work if you're no more than three time zones away and can come to San Mateo now and then.

What You’ll Do:

• Deep understanding of the technical stack will allow this person to work on technical projects within DevOps and also work outside DevOps on key strategics company initiates.

• This role will be a combination of project work (75%) and tactical work (25%) supporting the site.

• Collaborate with Engineering, Compliance and Security on next-generation business initiatives

• Work with DevOps and Engineering in building a scalable architecture utilizing a platform orchestration foundation that can support the next five years or company growth

• Write some glue code to help production systems integrate with Kubernetes

The Right Fit:

• Prior experience with orchestration technology and containers

• Some experience in Go.

• Experience interfacing with declarative & immutable systems

• Familiarity with microservice architecture concepts

• Experience in a fast-paced DevOps environment

• Ability to learn quickly and willingness to ask a lot of questions

• A passion for building and improving all manner of systems and services

• Excellent problem solving, investigative, and troubleshooting skills

• Strong interpersonal communication skills

Nice to haves:

• Experience with Kubernetes ecosystem components.

• Willingness to learn eBPF/XDP

• Experience with BGP, L3/L2 networking

• Experience with Bash or Python

• 7 years of experience managing cloud-based storage

• A combination of start-up and enterprise-based experience.

• Compliance experience dealing with SSAE-18, GDPR, NIST
